Service Description

Looking for a guided hike through Blomidon, Nova Scotia? Look no further! Sometimes beauty is best appreciated on two feet. Our expert trip leaders will take you on a hike of Blomidon along the Jodrey Trail on this small group tour featuring high cliffs, a variety of habitats, strking natural features, abundant wildlife and the world's highest tides wash its shores. The 5.4 km (3.4 mi) trail skirts 183 m (600 ft.) sea cliffs with numerous viewing stations overlooking the Minas Basin. The trail gradually climbs to 190 m, winding through a sugar maple, yellow birch and beech forest and near a small fen, which seasonally, is the only known location of fairy shrimp (Eubranchipus intricatus) east of Manitoba. At Indian Springs Brook, a cairn commemorates the gift of 162 ha (400 acres) to the park by the late Roy Jodrey. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the tides and landscape of the Bay of Fundy with a custom farm to table picnic when you arrive. We take into consideration any dietary restrictions you may have. This trail is beginner to intermediate. Spend time on the beach collecting hermit crabs, enjoy two of the waterfalls and some time slowing down in a forage for wild plants. Hikers should plan on 4-6 hours of daylight hours to make the return trip. Hikers should wear sturdy footwear and layered clothing as weather and temperatures can change quickly. Trail users may encounter wet and muddy conditions. Our culinary picnics are created by Jennifer Chandler of Jennifer Chandler Holistic Health. Jennifer is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Certified Culinary Nutrition Expert and Registered Herbalist. Jennifer cooks without using the most common allergens (no gluten, dairy, corn, soy, eggs, nuts, refined seed oils, or sugar) and each dish is exquisitely crafted with local farm to table foods, herbs and embellishments that are spray free and organic. While we will bring water for hikers, we ask that you also carry drinking water and pack sun protection. Hikers will meet in the parking lot, located at 3138 Pereau Road, Blomidon, NS. A minimum of 2 people is required for this tour. A waiver of liability must be signed prior to the start of the hike.
